electronic Space Weather upper atmosphere - Ionospheric database

The "electronic Space Weather upper atmosphere" (eSWua) data base is constituted by measurements performed by all the instruments installed by the "Physics of the Upper Atmosphere" group of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, Italy.

This is the result of a project developed at Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia with the aim of organizing and standardizing the measurements coming from different types of ionosondes, riometers and GPS for scintillation monitoring, all managed by researchers of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia. This aim is achieved through a hardware-software system.

The interactive web site of the DB, intends to be a powerful tool for the scientific and technological community in the field of telecommunications and Space Weather.

At the moment vertical soundings data (both historical and real time) are available from:

  • Rome ionospheric station;
  • Gibilmanna ionospheric station;
  • Mario Zucchelli ionospheric station;
  • Tucuman ionospheric station;

and scintillation data from:

  • Arctic stations;
  • Antarctic stations.
